RENACCI CAMPAIGN REPORTS MORE STRONG FUNDRAISING NUMBERS
Republican candidate grows war chest to unseat Boccieri
Wadsworth— Jim Renacci, Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 16th district, announced today that his campaign brought in over $210,000 in the fourth quarter of 2009, and reported $355,968 cash on hand heading into 2010. Renacci’s fourth quarter report, filed with the FEC today, follows a very strong third quarter in which he reported raising $203,838.
“I am sincerely humbled and thankful for the outpouring of support my campaign has received across this district. While campaigns are won with votes and not dollars, the continued financial support from voters across this district is arming my campaign with the necessary resources to take on John Boccieri in the fall and restore common sense conservatism to Washington. I have no doubt that with the support of Nancy Pelosi and a host of special interest allies, John Boccieri’s campaign will be well financed—but as the groundswell of momentum and support for my campaign continues to grow here in Ohio, I’m confident that I will be well positioned to unseat John Boccieri and return this seat to the people of the 16th district,” Renacci said.
Based in part on his proven fundraising success and the strength of his campaign organization, the National Republican Congressional Committee advanced Jim Renacci to “Contender” status in its “Young Guns” program earlier this year, naming him as one of the top 14 challenger candidates in the nation. The fundraising report released today further demonstrates that Jim Renacci is clearly the only candidate in this race who has been able to attract both the support and resources necessary to defeat John Boccieri in November.

Renacci responds to Obama's State of the Union address

RENACCI RESPONDS TO OBAMA’S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS
Wadsworth— In response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address, Jim Renacci, Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 16th district, issued the following statement.
“Tonight, as millions of Americans continue to struggle—desperate for jobs and mired in debt, they listened for the President to set a new course for America and to outline a path to economic recovery for our nation. They listened for a viable plan to bring the employment rate up, instead of down, and to bring taxes down, instead of up. They listened for a commitment to decrease our national debt and halt deficit spending. They listened for the President who campaigned on ‘hope’, to actually give reason for it, and who promised ‘change’, to deliver change for the better, rather than change for the worse. Unfortunately, because the President hasn’t been listening to the American people, the American people didn’t hear what they had hoped for from the President.”
“On a night when the nation was clamoring for change, all they heard was more of the same. While Americans are demanding more jobs and lower taxes, the President called for massive tax hikes and job-killing energy policies, by asking Congress to pass the cap and trade legislation. At a time when we need far less spending in Washington, the President demanded more of it, urging the passage of a trillion dollar health care bill. In a speech that was light on substance and short on vision, the only thing that remains clear is the President’s commitment to the same failed policies of the past year—policies wholeheartedly supported by John Boccieri and Nancy Pelosi. Policies that Americans clearly do not support and that our country clearly cannot afford.”
“The path forward to reviving America’s economy and restoring our vitality does not lie with more of the same failed initiatives that result in higher taxes and reckless spending. The Obama-Pelosi agenda pursued during the past twelve months, with the full support of John Boccieri, has left a trail of destruction throughout our nation and throughout this district that is felt every day. Unemployment in our most populous county has doubled, and statewide, the jobless rate in Ohio now stands nearly a full point higher than the national average. Tonight, the President said that he is more ‘hopeful’ now about America’s future than at any time in history, but that hope and confidence is not shared by the millions of Americans who cannot find work and whose children and grandchildren are being buried in debt. I am running for Congress to reverse the treacherous course that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and John Boccieri have set for this country, and in Washington, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

BOCCIERI FEIGNS OUTRAGE OVER SPECIAL INTEREST INFLUENCE
After pocketing $587,000 from special interests, Boccieri’s words ring hollow
Wadsworth— In the wake of last week’s Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. FEC, which reversed a ban on independent expenditures by corporations and unions on behalf of political candidates, John Boccieri issued a statement decrying the influence of special interests on the political process. In his statement, Boccieri said, “It’s as if the Supreme Court rolled up to the drive-through and supersized the campaign contributions of corporations and special interests.” In light of the fact that John Boccieri has accepted more than half a million dollars in campaign cash from special interests since 2008, his new found ire over their financial involvement in political campaigns reeks of hypocrisy.
“When John Boccieri isn’t busy cheerleading for Nancy Pelosi’s deficit booming, job killing policies, he’s spent the balance of his time panhandling for campaign contributions from D.C. insiders and special interests—and apparently he’s pretty good at it. Considering that in the past 18 months alone, he’s raked in over $580,000 from union bosses, trial lawyers and lobbyists, it’s crystal clear that his recent statement amounts to nothing more than disingenuous lip service. It seems that the only special interests that John Boccieri wants to silence are the ones that he hasn’t convinced to cut his campaign a check,” Renacci spokesman James Slepian said.
In addition to the $587,000 from special interests, Boccieri also accepted $15,000 in PAC contributions from the ethically challenged tax cheat, Charlie Rangel, and another $20,000 from Nancy Pelosi’s PAC. Boccieri returned the favor to his Party’s leadership this year, by voting with Nancy Pelosi 94% of the time.

RENACCI REACTS TO SCOTT BROWN’S VICTORY

RENACCI REACTS TO SCOTT BROWN’S VICTORY
Wadsworth—On the heels of Republican Scott Brown’s monumental victory in the Massachusetts special election, Jim Renacci, Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 16th District, released the following statement.
“Reminiscent of their actions during the dawn of our nation, last night the people of Massachusetts once again ignited a revolution against the ills of bad government. Together, Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike, sent a thunderous message to our leaders in Washington that the American people demand far better than the failed policies of the Obama-Pelosi agenda. Scott Brown’s historic victory in deep blue Massachusetts serves as a clear renunciation of the reckless spending, higher taxes and massive expansion of government that has defined the past 12 months,” Renacci said.
“Here in Ohio, the residents of the 16th district are currently represented by a Congressman who has marched in lock-step with Washington’s dismantling of America’s economy. John Boccieri, who has voted with Nancy Pelosi 94% of the time, has added fuel to the fire that is burning up our national treasury and is killing jobs across our district. His votes in support of doubling the national debt, the job killing Cap & Trade bill, and a steady stream of wasteful government spending projects, have demonstrated just how out of touch he his with the concerns and values of this district. Since assuming office, John Boccieri has served as a reliable voice for the Pelosi agenda and the special interests that line his campaign coffers, but he has been a disaster for his constituents here in Ohio. It is time that we restore responsibility to government and return this seat back to the people of the 16th district, and in Congress, that’s precisely what I am going to do.”

RENACCI PLEDGES TO REPEAL “OBAMACARE”
Boccieri opponent commits to undoing Democrats’ destruction of health care
Wadsworth—Today, Republican candidate for congress in Ohio’s 16th district, Jim Renacci, joined fellow conservatives across the country in signing a pledge to support and sponsor legislation aimed at repealing any federal health care takeover passed in 2010, once elected to Congress.
The “Repeal It!” pledge, sponsored by the conservative political action organization, The Club for Growth, is a nationwide movement to unify support among federal office holders and candidates for the repeal of the federal takeover of health care, which Washington Democrats are working to pass in 2010. By signing the pledge, Jim Renacci has further signaled the strength of his commitment to fighting against a government takeover of America’s health care system and to protecting the high quality of medical care that Americans currently have.
“While we must strive to reduce the cost of health care and make it more affordable for all Americans, the legislation currently being pushed by the White House and congressional Democrats does nothing to address the root causes of escalating costs, while it threatens to destroy the quality of care that Americans now receive. The answer to lower health care costs does not lie in a massive government takeover that will increase taxes and take a sledge hammer to a system that provides the highest quality care in the world,” Renacci said.
“If we are going to decrease costs, we must increase competition in the marketplace by allowing consumers to purchase insurance across state lines. Further cost reductions can be achieved by passing meaningful tort reform, which will help eliminate the need for the costly and unnecessary practice of defensive medicine that has increased costs on the entire system. Implementing a destructive and costly government takeover will not address the problems that exist, it will compound them, and in congress I will work to repeal the misguided and dangerous legislation that Democrats now seem poised to pass.”

NATIONAL REPUBLICANS ELEVATE RENACCI'S CAMPAIGN STATUS

NATIONAL REPUBLICANS ELEVATE RENACCI'S CAMPAIGN STATUS
Congressional candidate becomes one of fourteen national “contenders”
The National Republican Congressional Committee announced today that Jim Renacci's congressional campaign has advanced to “Contender” status in its Young Guns program, making Renacci one of only 14 candidates nationwide to reach that exclusive level. The NRCC's Young Guns program is dedicated to identifying and electing the strongest open-seat and challenger candidates in the country. Achieving ‘Contender' status verifies that Renacci has already proven his ability to build a successful campaign structure and achieve important fundraising goals. Just two and a half months ago, Renacci reached the “On the Radar” status of the program, with today's announcement serving as an indicator of Renacci's rapidly growing strength and momentum as the most formidable candidate to unseat freshman Congressman, John Boccieri.
“Jim has already proven that he will be a formidable candidate,” NRCC Chairman, Pete Sessions said. “His campaign has put Democrats on notice that Ohioans are ready to turn the page on the failed experiment known as the Obama-Pelosi agenda, and the best way to do that is by making John Boccieri a one-term Congressman.”
Renacci, the former Mayor of Wadsworth and small business owner, has established a clear record as a conservative who understands how to restore fiscal responsibility to government and what it takes to grow the economy and create jobs. As Mayor, Renacci implemented a common sense, business-oriented approach to local government, converting Wadsworth's multi-million dollar deficit into a surplus, without raising taxes. Through his work in both the public and private sector, Renacci has created over 1,500 jobs in and around Ohio's 16th district and is poised to serve as a pro-growth, conservative voice in Washington.
“Today's announcement by the NRCC is a testament to the strength and growing excitement behind Jim Renacci's campaign, both within the 16th district and at a national level,” said Renacci spokesman James Slepian. “He is the only candidate in this race with a demonstrated record as a job creator, and he will continue to campaign tirelessly to earn the support of voters across the district and spread his message on the importance of restoring conservatism to government.”

RENACCI FILES PETITIONS FOR CONGRESSSIONAL RUN
Proven conservative and job creator makes campaign to unseat Boccieri official
Wadsworth— Today, former Mayor of Wadsworth and small business owner, Jim Renacci, officially filed petitions as a Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 16th District.
A twenty-seven year resident of the District, Renacci brings his strong record as a job creator and responsible financial steward in both the private and public sector to his campaign for congress. As a successful small business owner and Mayor, Renacci has created over 1,500 jobs in and around the district. During his tenure as Mayor, Renacci helped balance the city’s $80 million budget, and converted Wadsworth’s multi-million dollar deficit into a surplus, without raising taxes.
“Our economy is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, and in the last twelve months alone, John Boccieri has demonstrated unconscionable fiscal recklessness in Washington. Voting 94 percent of the time with Nancy Pelosi, John Boccieri passed a budget that will triple our national debt in the next five years, while unemployment in our district’s most populous county has doubled since he took office. Neither our district nor our country can afford this brand of failed leadership. I am running for congress to restore common sense, responsibility and accountability to our nation’s capital.”
Since initially filing his Statement of Candidacy last August, Renacci has seen as groundswell of support for his campaign throughout the 16th District, and was named to the National Republican Congressional Committee’s “Young Guns” program in the fall.
“I am the only candidate in this race with a proven track record as a job creator and a demonstrated ability to grow our economy. In Washington, I will serve as a much needed advocate for the restoration of conservative principles to our government,” Renacci added.
