NATIONAL REPUBLICANS ELEVATE RENACCI'S CAMPAIGN STATUS
Congressional candidate becomes one of fourteen national “contenders”

The National Republican Congressional Committee announced today that Jim Renacci's congressional campaign has advanced to “Contender” status in its Young Guns program, making Renacci one of only 14 candidates nationwide to reach that exclusive level. The NRCC's Young Guns program is dedicated to identifying and electing the strongest open-seat and challenger candidates in the country. Achieving ‘Contender' status verifies that Renacci has already proven his ability to build a successful campaign structure and achieve important fundraising goals. Just two and a half months ago, Renacci reached the “On the Radar” status of the program, with today's announcement serving as an indicator of Renacci's rapidly growing strength and momentum as the most formidable candidate to unseat freshman Congressman, John Boccieri.

“Jim has already proven that he will be a formidable candidate,” NRCC Chairman, Pete Sessions said. “His campaign has put Democrats on notice that Ohioans are ready to turn the page on the failed experiment known as the Obama-Pelosi agenda, and the best way to do that is by making John Boccieri a one-term Congressman.”

Renacci, the former Mayor of Wadsworth and small business owner, has established a clear record as a conservative who understands how to restore fiscal responsibility to government and what it takes to grow the economy and create jobs. As Mayor, Renacci implemented a common sense, business-oriented approach to local government, converting Wadsworth's multi-million dollar deficit into a surplus, without raising taxes. Through his work in both the public and private sector, Renacci has created over 1,500 jobs in and around Ohio's 16th district and is poised to serve as a pro-growth, conservative voice in Washington.
