BOCCIERI CONTINUES ASSAULT ON OHIO MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES AND SMALL BUSINESSES
Following Pelosi’s Orders, Boccieri Votes to Slap Working Families and Small Businesses with Fines for Failing to Buy Into ObamaCare
Canton, OH—Last night, John Boccieri once again sided with Nancy Pelosi rather than the people of the 16th district by voting to preserve the ObamaCare individual health insurance mandate, forcing working families and small businesses to choose between purchasing potentially unaffordable insurance plans or paying a hefty fine to the federal government. As reported by the Congressional Budget Office earlier this year, insurance premiums for families are expected to rise by nearly $2,100 annually as a result of the health care overhaul that Boccieri and his liberal colleagues in Congress forced through in March—making the insurance mandate even more costly for families and small businesses who are already struggling under the failed Obama-Pelosi economic agenda.
“As financially crippling and inexcusable as John Boccieri’s vote last night was, his decision to once again place the wishes of his Party’s leadership over the interests of the 16th district comes as no surprise to anyone—considering that his voting record has been practically indistinguishable from Nancy Pelosi’s, voting with her 94% of the time. As our district continues to sink further and further into economic malaise and our residents remain desperate for new jobs and the resources to make ends meet, John Boccieri continues to turn a deaf ear to the concerns of his constituents as he buries us under higher taxes and more debt. John Boccieri isn’t from this district, doesn’t speak for this district and has proven once again that in Washington, he doesn’t vote for this district. I believe that the people of our district deserve far better than that, and that’s why I’m running to remove John Boccieri in November,” Jim Renacci said today.
Boccieri’s vote to saddle millions of middle class families and small businesses with even further economic hardship is just the most recent in a series of votes where John Boccieri sided with Party leaders and special interests over the needs of working families. In addition to voting for $500 billion in tax increases earlier this year, Boccieri also voted for a Cap & Trade bill that would slash tens of thousands of jobs in the region and co-sponsored a bill to eliminate workers’ rights to a secret ballot in union elections. While Jim Renacci has spent the past three decades creating jobs and new opportunities for thousands of Ohioans, John Boccieri has opted to sell-out the interests of working men and women in return for special interest campaign cash and another pat on the back from Nancy Pelosi.
